The first-instance panel of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina handed down the verdict to the eleven defendants in the case “Dušan Milunić and others” for war crimes committed on July 23, 1992 in the Prijedor village of Zecovi.

Five people were sentenced to a total of 59 years in prison, while six were acquitted.

All the accused were acquitted of the existence of a joint criminal enterprise.

They were tried for 150 murders, torture, sexual abuse and other inhuman acts against Bosniak civilians of the village of Zecovi.

The verdict was pronounced almost ten years after the first arrests of suspects for crimes in the village of Zecovi.

The trial in this case lasted more than eight and a half years.
