The Bosnia and Herzegovina Open 2025 international taekwondo tournament, which began today in Sarajevo, was a success for the representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The senior national team members of Bosnia and Herzegovina won one gold, two silver and two bronze medals at the G1 tournament – the Taekwondo Federation of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.

Ejla Makaš won the gold in the 49 kg category, the Kraišnik sisters, Katarina (-53 kg) and Ivana (-57 kg) won two silver medals, while Anja Hrgić (-62 kg) and Erol Nući (-87 kg) won bronze medals.

The number of medals for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team would have been even higher, but Ada Avdagić, Benjamin Husić and Muhamed Đonko did not participate in the G1 tournament of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Open, as they are awaiting the World Championship under 21.

The best Bosnian and Herzegovina taekwondo player Nedžad Husić, who is still recovering from a serious knee injury, also participated in the G1 tournament. The draw at the very beginning of the competition assigned him as an opponent the Spanish national team member Daniel Quesada Barrera, the 2022 world champion.

One of the most interesting finals was the clash between two Croatian women in the 67 kg category, in which Doris Pole defeated Mateu Jelić, the Olympic champion from Tokyo.

After today’s G1 tournament with nearly 300 participants from 36 countries, tomorrow the E1 tournament for cadet and junior taekwondo players is scheduled, during which the opening ceremony of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Open is also planned, where almost 400 competitors and 150 officials from 25 countries are expected.

Starting Wednesday, Arena Hills in Ilidža will host another major competition – the European Grand Prix, which will last until December 6, the FBiH Taekwondo Federation announced.
