Five People died in a Fire in Poland

Five people died in a fire at an unlicensed hostel in southern Poland, authorities said on Sunday, after the blaze was extinguished.

Twelve other adults were evacuated from the burning building, firefighters in the small Silesian town of Pszów said.

The hostel fire was discovered late Sunday night.

“When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found the entire two-story building and the attic on fire,” a fire department spokesman said.

The fire spread very quickly, which is probably why the five people were unable to get to safety in time, he added.

A total of 120 firefighters and 34 ambulances responded to the scene, Interior Ministry spokesman Jacek Dobrzyński wrote on X.

The guests at the hostel were construction workers, Polish TVN24 reported.
