FM: BiH Institutions Neither Approved Nor Revoked Permits for European Rabbis Conference

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, stated today at a press conference in Sarajevo that the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina neither granted nor withdrew permits for the conference of European rabbis, which was supposed to be held in Sarajevo.

He pointed out that the manipulation due to the cancellation of the event came from politicians whose political options, as he stated, openly celebrate fascists and war criminals from World War II who also committed crimes against Jews.

Konaković said that the spokesperson for the European Commission would have to apologize to the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, if it is true that he stated that the Commission condemns BiH for canceling the conference.

He emphasized that a targeted campaign is being conducted against Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to portray them as intolerant, which, Konaković emphasized, this city and country have never been because everyone is welcome here.

Konaković said that he would energetically explain the real situation to everyone in the world who believe that the BiH institutions canceled the conference and that we are an intolerant people and country.

He added that the very announcement of the conference had provoked inappropriate reactions from some BiH politicians, including federal minister Adnan Delić, who, Konaković said, had made a mistake in requesting a ban.

He specified that the Swissotel Hotel was the first to announce that there were security risks for the event in Sarajevo, even though the director of OSA and the police commissioner of the Sarajevo Canton had personally told him that there were no such risks.

Konaković condemned Israel’s attack on Iran, especially at a time when the US administration is sending messages that nuclear negotiations are progressing.
