The Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turkovic met yesterday in Jakarta with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Retno Marsudi.

At the beginning of the conversation, Turkovic reminded that last month marked the 30th anniversary of the recognition of independent and sovereign Bosnia and Herzegovina from Indonesia, and thanked for the continuous help and support in the last three decades.

Special attention was paid to strengthening economic cooperation, and Turkovic presented the potentials and advantages of BiH markets, adding that Bosnia and Herzegovina exports more than 70 percent of its products to the EU, which is a great opportunity for investors.

She noted that Bosnia and Herzegovina, although a small country, has a quality metal, wood, food, purpose and chemical industries in which greater future cooperation can be achieved. They also discussed the possibilities of exporting halal-certified products from BiH, improving air traffic, the energy sector, and connecting businessmen and chambers of commerce of the two countries.

The interlocutors assessed that it is important to finalize the agreements between the two countries, which are in different procedures, which will further contribute to strengthening our relations. Visa liberalization was also discussed.

Marsudi said that Indonesia and Bosnia and Herzegovina have deep and strong ties, and that she is committed to the growth of cooperation, and the focus will be on the economy, education, culture and other areas. She also emphasized the importance of connecting investors, the business sector, but also chambers of commerce.

During the meeting, opinions were exchanged on the war in Ukraine, and the economic and security consequences that are being felt around the world.

Marsudi informed Turkovic about the Indonesian presidency of the G-20 group, which consists of the 20 most developed countries in the world, and the challenges that the country is facing.

The current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the upcoming elections were also discussed.

Turkovic thanked the Republic of Indonesia for its support during the adoption of the Resolution on BiH at the OIC session in March this year.

As part of a visit to the friendly country, Turkovic and a delegation from Bosnia and Herzegovina’s foreign ministry will meet with other senior Indonesian officials to discuss improving and strengthening co-operation, the BiH Foreign Ministry’s Public Relations Office said.
