FM Turkovic warns: Genocide Deniers and Extremists would like to usurp what is not theirs

At the OSCE Ministerial Council in Stockholm, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Bisera Turkovic, spoke in front of nearly 50 foreign ministers about the current situation in BiH, which is very dangerous, and she directly called those responsible.

After being given the opportunity to address all present, she referred to the words of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov.

“I support Minister Lavrov’s words from last night’s dinner: ‘Let’s be honest.‘ I agree. Let’s be honest,'” she said at the beginning and continued.

Turkovic emphasized that honesty makes us say that a high official of the BiH government and the leader of the largest party from one BiH entity effectively calls for the secession of that entity.

“He announced plans to withdraw from the Armed Forces of BiH (AFBiH), take over locations in the entity, and establish an entity army. That move would ruin years of progress in BiH defense reform. I don’t have to remind you that similar rhetoric resulted in more than 100.000 killed in BiH, mostly innocent civilians,” noted the head of BiH diplomacy.

Further, she reminded that Europe said “never again” after the Holocaust, and yet 50 years later we witnessed genocide in the heart of Europe.

“Those who deny the Holocaust and genocide, celebrate convicted war criminals, right-wing extremists and nationalistsare ready to take what is not theirs. This is the political situation in BiH. A situation that demands our attention and invites us to get involved,” she stated.

Turkovic addressed the gathering, where United States (U.S.)Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke, among others.

The summit was held in the context of security circumstances in Europe and the world, and messages of international solidarity, dialogue, and joint efforts to combat global challenges were sent.
