The media have reported, citing a high-ranking former Israeli intelligence officer, how many Iranian missiles were intercepted by Israel‘s Iron Dome missile defense system in the past 24 hours.
It is only 65% of the missiles, which represents a drop in effectiveness, since nearly 90% of the rockets were intercepted the day before, according to the same source who still has access to daily government briefings.
“Iran still possesses very advanced missiles and is now actively using them,” the source told the media.
It is also stated that the newer, faster Iranian rockets have shortened the time Israeli systems have to prepare, from 10–11 minutes the day before to only 6–7 minutes today.
Particularly concerning is the fact that Iranian missiles have advanced terminal-phase guidance, which allows them high precision in selecting targets. As an example, the source mentions the hospital in Be’er Sheva, which was hit precisely because of that capability.
On the other hand, Iran denies that the hospital was a direct target, claiming it was damaged due to shockwaves from an attack on a nearby military command center.
