The police of Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina arrested four people on reasonable suspicion that they had verbally and physically attacked two minors and that they had taken off one of them’s T-shirt with lily symbols.
As they announced, the incident occurred on August 18 in the Meraje settlement. Four people got out of three cars and verbally attacked two minors, insulting and cursing them.
It was further said that one of the minors was forcibly taken from a t-shirt with lily symbols and cursed with elements of hate speech.
“Immediately after the report was received, the police officers took urgent measures and actions within their jurisdiction and very quickly shed light on the circumstances under which this event took place, and identified the persons who are linked to the said event. In the activities in question, a total of nine persons have been heard as witnesses, while four persons have been deprived of their liberty due to the grounds of suspicion that they have committed the criminal offense of ‘Inciting national, racial and religious hatred, discord and intolerance’ under Article 145a of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the Brčko District Police announced.
They further stated that the duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH is aware of everything, and after the completion of the criminal investigation and the clarification of all the details regarding the actions of the suspects, the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH will be submitted to the Report on the committed criminal act.
“The police of Brčko District BiH understand the interest that this event has caused in a multi-ethnic environment such as Brčko District BiH and in this regard calls for a certain type of patience and trust in the institutions to undertake activities within their jurisdiction as soon as possible, and accurately inform the public about it,” they also pointed out in the announcement.
