Exactly four years ago, the national football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) won its first placement in a major competition, then the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The Dragons in Lithuania scored 1: 0 with Vedad Ibisevic’s goal and beat the hosts, winning them a ticket to Brazil.

The coach, who on October 15th, 2013 wrote history of Bosnian football, was Safet Susic and on the grass were Asmir Begovic, Avdija Vrsajevic, Ermin Bicakcic, Emir Spahic, Senad Lulic, Sejad Salihovic, Haris Medunjanin, Miralem Pjanic, Zvjezdan Misimovic, Vedad Ibisevic and Edin Dzeko. Adnan Zahirović and Senijad Ibricic also played, while Jasmin Fejzic, Asmir Avdukic, Boris Pandza, Elvir Rahimic, Miroslav Stevanovic, Edin Visic, Izet Hajrovic, Zoran Krzic and Toni Sunjic stayed on the bench.

The match was not easy to watch as we waited until the 68th minute when Dzeko found Ibisevic and defeated Giederius Arlauskas.

That night, Kaunas was painted in the colors of BiH and it brought a great celebration to this people and the crown of victory was an appearance in Brazil where we played against Argentina, Nigeria and Iran. In the Mundial, we took third place in the group behind Argentina and Nigeria that defeated us and in front of Iran, which we managed to defeat.

We reached the Mundial by winning first place in group G ahead of Greece, Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia and Liechtenstein. We won 25 of the possible 30 points, and the same number of points was won by Greece from which we had a better goal difference.

The Mundial in Brazil is the only big competition in which we have participated. After these qualifications we were once against defeated in the Euro 2016, while in these qualifications for the Mundial in Russia we were stopped at the group stage.
