France is concerned about the legal measures adopted by the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska (RS) on April 19, and especially the draft election law of the RS, which represent an attack on the constitutional order and unity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the functionality of its central institutions and are contrary to the European path of the country , it was announced from the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

“France, as a witness to the Dayton-Paris Agreement, will continue to firmly support the unity and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She calls on the Republika Srpska authorities to end these initiatives.

“France calls on Republika Srpska to also withdraw its draft law on foreign agents, which is contrary to the preservation of an environment favorable to civil society, the media and freedom of expression,” the statement said.

France calls on all political forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina to unite and return to the path of reforms necessary for the realization of the perspective of the accession of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a whole.

“The opening of the accession negotiations decided by the EU Council last month represents a clear signal in favor of the country’s European future, for the benefit of all its citizens,” the announcement added.
