Frank Masley, the athlete who carried the U.S. flag at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in 1984 in Sarajevo, passed away yesterday at the age of 56, due to cancer.
Frank Masley had the honor to carry the flag of the United States of America at the ceremony of the opening of the Winter Olympic Games in 1984 in Sarajevo.
“That was the moment in my life when I felt the biggest pride,” Masley said to a reporter who reported for The News Journal from Sarajevo.
His wife Donna Masley stated that her husband never stopped being flattered for being the one to carry the flag of the USA at the Olympics in Sarajevo.
This sledger also competed at Olympic Games held in Lake Placid, New York in 1980 and in Calgary, Canada in 1988.
