The Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Communications and Transport and Sarajevo International Airport, will carry out an observation flight of the Republic of France, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Republic of Croatia, the Republic of Hungary and the Czech Republic, in accordance with the provisions of the international agreement “Open Skies”, in the period from 21.07. to 25.07. 2025.

“On this occasion, citizens are informed that this is an announced activity, during which the aircraft crew and international inspectors will be joined by an accompanying team of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Communications and Transport, and that there is no need for concern and fear. The observation flight will be carried out by an aircraft of the Air Force of the Republic of France (A319 OH)”, stated the Ministry of Defense of BiH.

The exact time of implementation and the route of the observation flight will be agreed upon during joint preparations, after the arrival of the delegations at the International Airport “Sarajevo”. The territory is photographed using sensors certified in accordance with the provisions of the Treaty, after inspection by members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Open Skies Treaty is one of the security arrangements that allows member states to photograph the territory of the country over which an observation flight is being conducted in order to obtain data on military forces and activities. The purpose of the Treaty is to build and develop trust between the members. Bosnia and Herzegovina joined this Treaty in 2003. Since then, in cooperation with other members, it has been actively participating in the implementation of observation flights both over the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina and over the territory of other member states, the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
