Members of the Federal Specialized Unit for Searches in Winter and Summer Conditions FUCZ continued their search this morning for the missing employee of the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute (FHMZ), who on Tuesday, December 24th headed to the meteorological observatory on the summit of Bjelašnica in the morning hours to take over his shift.
Around 20 people, members of the FUCZ and the GSS of the Sarajevo Canton, the GSS Trnovo and several other GSS stations, are participating in today’s search, which is taking place along the southern ridge of the Bjelašnica summit from the “House of Rescue” to the relay, where a part of Ivan Polje was also searched.
In previous days, teams in the field have also searched the area below the summit of Bjelašnica.
The search is further complicated by strong icy winds and fog that cause poor visibility, and snow, which, although at a lower intensity, is still falling.
Members of the federal specialized unit FUCZ joined the search on Tuesday, December 24. at the request of the FHMZ, which forwarded information via the Federal Operations Center (FOC) to the U. that their employee on duty at the observatory (Bjelašnica) is not answering phone calls and that he has been missing since the moment he got off the six-seater and headed towards the Observatory.
In the past two days, the terrain has been searched by members of the Federal Civil Protection Administration (part of the federal specialized unit for rescue in winter and summer conditions) GSS FBiH, which is the federal protection and rescue service, GSS KS, MUP of the Sarajevo Canton and employees of ZOI 84.
Strong winds and bad weather conditions also limit the use of drones with thermal cameras for terrain search, which yesterday, as far as weather conditions allowed, inspected the area south of the peak of Bjelašnica and the area towards the “House of Rescue” and beyond.
The search, which was interrupted for today due to bad weather conditions, will continue tomorrow when, according to the weather forecast, more favorable weather conditions are expected.
