fogConcentrations of dust and sulfur dioxide are still very high in certain areas in several cities in B&H, and experts are not expecting the situation to be changed in the near future.

From the Department of Environment of the Federal Institute for Hydrometeorology stated that high air pollution is present from the beginning of November and they are not expecting any changes before January.

“In previous years, this situation lasted for 15 days, but this year it will last for much longer period of time. High concentration will remain until the New Year, as well as alerts and protection plans, ” they stated. They also noted that the precipitation are expected in January, when changes will occur.

They said that it did not happened before that air pollution lasts for a long time because we did not have a month without rainfall. “We have a climate change that is resulting in the weather changes. We have a dry month, which would cause a drought during the summer months, and in the winter time it results in the appearance of basin fogs and retaining of air that cannot circulate ”, as emphasized from the Department of Environment of the Federal Institute for Hydrometeorology.
