Germans demand Compensation for the failed interventional cardiology Project in BiH

Zenica Cantonal Hospital will most likely have to pay penalties to the German partner with whom they were supposed to build the interventional cardiology building.

The amount that this health institution will have to pay to the German partner with whom they planned to build the interventional cardiology building is not yet known.

It was primarily about compensation for damages in the project of about 700,000 BAM, and the amount was later lowered to 500,000 BAM. However, as it was found out, the claimed amount was returned to slightly more than 700,000 BAM. In the end, everything will most likely be paid for with citizens’ money, but the human damage is much greater.

However, the culprit in this case is not the Cantonal Hospital, but the court process that took place before the courts in Zenica, due to the ownership of the land within the Zenica Cantonal Hospital.

It is important to note that the dispute over the land of the Zenica Cantonal Hospital arose when this institution requested approval for the construction of an interventional cardiology center with partners from Germany, which was supposed to be built and put into operation for citizens by March 2022, but due to a court dispute, the entire project of building a new the interventional cardiology building failed.

Back then, the City of Zenica requested millions from the Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDC) for certain projects to be signed, but that did not happen, and the court’s epilogue was awaited.

On several occasions before, before the final second-instance verdict was passed, Kasumovic claimed in public that the land on which the Zenica Cantonal Hospital is located is owned by the City of Zenica, so he secured free parking for the citizens through the council, where, as they stated earlier, the Zenica Cantonal Hospital, under a false pretense with the councilors, entered the grounds of the hospital and obstructed the guards, raising the ramp and allowing vehicles to leave the grounds of this institution without paying for parking.

A project that is important for ZDC and other cantons

Even today, the citizens of Zenica do not have an interventional cardiology building that would save lives. Doctor Malik Ejubovic, who works daily with patients suffering from heart problems, said in a statement that the biggest damage is the lost lives.

“The importance of interventional cardiology for patients in our Canton is immeasurable, as are the consequences because such a service has not yet been introduced. Millions of BAM went to other cantons, public and private institutions, which represents a huge cost for healthcare in the ZDC. The doctors of our hospital are “on wheels” every day with other staff, transporting patients to one of the reference centers. Worst of all are the lost human lives, and that is the only damage we cannot compensate for. Our Canton needs such a center, regardless of the format in which it is built,“ stressed Ejubovic.

It is a story about a failed project that should have meant life, and the political game show of Kasumovic and the then SDA, which ran the hospital, will be paid for with citizens’ money. And it will be expensive because there is no building, and there will be no money either, Klix.ba reports.
