Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović received today an inaugural visit from the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to BiH, Alfred Grannas. On that occasion, relations between BiH and Germany were assessed as very good and friendly, and the current political and security situation in BiH and the region was also discussed.

Bećirović pointed out Germany’s principled position and readiness to clearly react to anti-Dayton activities in our country, which was also confirmed by the introduction of sanctions against politicians who undermine the constitutional order and the Dayton Peace Agreement.

He pointed out the importance of Germany’s continued support for preserving peace.

He also referred to the good bilateral cooperation in the field of defense. He thanked Germany for its support through the NATO package for building BiH’s defense capacities, as well as for its continued support for the EUFOR Althea mission in BiH following the Bundestag’s decision to continue the participation of German armed forces in this mission.

He emphasized the importance of the Berlin Process, initiated by Germany, with the aim of improving and intensifying regional cooperation, i.e. in order to accelerate the region’s connection with the European Union.

He added that the adoption of the Reform Agenda for the Growth Plan of BiH is a positive signal and an important step towards the European path of our country.

Ambassador Grannas said that Germany will continue to support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH and that it remains one of the main advocates of its European and Euro-Atlantic path.

He emphasized that Germany is one of the largest donor countries and has been providing significant support to BiH for years through development cooperation, the main goal of which is the path towards full membership of our country in the EU and NATO.

They also discussed the possibilities for the development of economic cooperation and the improvement of overall economic relations, the Office of the Member of the Presidency of BiH, Denis Bećirović, announced.
