Neda Simic (12), a student of the eighth grade in the Primary School “Sveti Sava” from Modrica, won the first place at the international competition in writing essays in English. A total of 15,441 students from 155 different countries from all around the world participated in this competition.

The competition was organized by the Peace Foundation GOI that operates under UNESCO, and Neda Simic will represent BiH at the convention of this organization in Japan.

The topic of this year’s competition was “Learning through Nature,” and Neda Simic will present her essay on November 25, in Japan, where she will also talk about her school, city, and country.

“This year’s competition was the biggest one ever. A total of 155 countries and 15,441 participants took part for the first time,” said Ivana Bozickovic, English teacher and Neda’s mentor.

“I love to talk in English and I really enjoyed it,” said Neda.

“The essay has not been published yet so I cannot reveal any details about it, but I compared some animals from nature and humans. How the animals are doing everything together, and we are doing everything individually and we should be doing them together as well,” said Neda.

Neda’s family is very proud of her success, and her colleagues are very happy for her.
