More than 20 years ago, Peter Milns became friends with an eight-year-old girl in a war-torn Bosnia and Herzegovina where Peter participated in the peacekeeping mission of the UN.

This little girl, Djuldina Kurtovic, is now grown up and she managed to find Milns via social networks.

The first thing she told him was that she still has the teddy bear that he had given her back then.

Djuldina was a child when she met Peter more than 20 years ago, while he was serving in the peacekeeping mission in BiH.

Today, after such a long period of time, she managed to find him over Facebook, which shocked Peter.

Peter remembered the time when he participated in the peacekeeping mission in BiH.

“I cried at first because we thought that she would have been killed or hurt because the area was shelled,” says Peter.

Djuldina said that their presence meant a lot to her.

“They gave us hope, not just chocolates. They were strangers, but they were our friends as well,” said Djuldina.

You can take a look at their first video call on this LINK.
