An agreement between the representatives of the pensioners in the FB&H and the Government of the FB&H, by which the two parties agreed to jointly work on the improvement of the position of pensioners in the FB&H, was officially signed today at the premises of the Government of the FB&H.
The agreement was signed by the Prime Minister Fadil Novalic on behalf of the Government of the FB&H, while Mehmedalija Rapa (Pensioners’ Association of FB&H) and Ivan Kozul (Federation of County Associations of Pensioners in FB&H) signed as the representatives of the pensioners.
After signing the agreement, the President of the Assembly of Pensioners’ Association of FB&H Omer Omerefendic said that this agreement establishes a better and more successful cooperation between the Government of the FB&H and pensioners on the improvement of the reform of retirement insurance.
“The Prime Minister and the Government of the FB&H accepted all requests of pensioners, therefore meeting all conditions for the cancellation of protests scheduled for September 29th“, said Omerefendic.
The first point of the signed agreement is the consolidation of the financial situation in the Federal Institute for Pension and Invalidity Insurance, as well as the payment of pensions in the shortest time possible. Pensions for August should be paid until September 15th, for September until October 10th, for October until November 5th, and so on for each coming month until 5th.
The second request that the Government accepted is the adoption of a set of laws from the area of reform of pension and invalidity protection. This primarily refers to the Law on Pension and Invalidity Insurance, the Law on the Federal Institute for Pension and Invalidity Insurance, and the Law on Contributions. All mentioned laws should be adopted until January 1st 2016. Prior to submitting the laws for parliamentary procedure, the laws will be approved by the pensioners’ associations.
The Law on Pension and Invalidity Insurance should establish a more equitable basis for the calculation of pensions, in a way that the employment status and the contributions paid would be taken as the basis. Moreover, the amendments to the law will enable the increase of pensions ffor the pensioners with minimal pensions.
The Government accepted to release the pensioners from paying contributions and taxes on membership fee they pay every month to the pensioners’ associations.
The fourth request is to pay at least 20 percent of means from the large privatization for the consolidation of the Federal Institute for Pension and Invalidity Insurance.
