Government of Japan allocates over 66 Thousand BAM for School in Sarajevo

On 9 February 2022, Ambassadar ITO attended a handover ceremony of “The Project for Rehabilitation of Hasan Kikic Primary School in Sarajevo”, which was held in the premise of Hasan Kikic Primary School in Sarajevo.

Ms. Naida Hota-Muminovic, Minister of Education of Sarajevo Canton and Mr. Srdan Mandic, Mayor of Municipality of Centar attended the ceremony along with Mr. Almir Pleh, Director of Hasan Kikic Primary School.

Ms. Hota-Muminovic expressed her gratitude for Japan’s constant supports to Sarajevo Canton including assistance to educational sector.

Ambassador ITO expressed his wish for further developing relations in various fields. Also, Ambassadar ITO, the Minister and the Mayor exchanged views on socio-economic and cultural cooperation for the future.

Under Japan’s “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GAGP)” program, the Government of Japan granted 66,161 EUR (approx. 130,000 BAM) to Hasan Kikic Primary School School in Sarajevo for rehabilitating façade including attic, replacing vulves of heating boilers and deteriorated joineries such as windows and doors in the school building.

The project will contribute to the improvement of educational environment in the school. This assistance will benefit about 367 pupils and 46 teachers and staff in the school.
