Yesterday in Gradačac, the anniversary of forming of the 107th Brigade of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina was marked by laying flowers at the grave of the wartime commander of the 107th Knight Brigade of the ARmy of RB&H Ivan Mijačević, with a solemn ceremony at the Central memorial to the deceased veterans, as well as with a solemn academy at the congress hall of the Gradačac fair.
This brigade was formed on April 25th 1992 as the 107th Brigade of the Croatian Defence Council of ”Bosanska Posavina”, by consolidating and putting under the unified command a larger number of units of the former Territorial Defense, although June 9th, 1992 is taken as the date of its constitution.
Due to the remarkable bravery and war results in defense, this brigade has been awarded the highest recognition of the war and gained the title of ”Knight” by the order of the Headquarters of the Supreme Command of the Armed Forces of the RB&H on April 15th 1993.
By the decision of the Presidency of the Republic of B&H, the 107th Croatian Defence Cuncil Knight brigade was renamed to the 107th Knight Motorized Brigade of the Army of the RB&H on December 14th, 1993.
During the past war, 624 fighters of the brigade were killed and 1.226 of them were seriously injured. The dead and wounded fighters of the brigade come from all three of the B&H constituent peoples, as well as from the order of Others.
