The British Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued a statement ahead of today’s session of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, where one of the agenda items is the issue of the alleged sending of migrants to our country.
This is the item “Declaration on the rejection of the initiatives of the Government of Great Britain, the European Union and its member states to establish centers for migrants on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, at the proposal of the President of RS Milorad Dodik.
On this occasion, the British Embassy in BiH issued a statement, saying that “illegal migration is a driver of global insecurity and therefore the government clearly emphasizes that international cooperation is needed to dismantle the activities of criminal groups that enable it.”
“They operate regardless of our national borders, so our cross-border cooperation must be much better to stop them. It is because of our commitment to this problem that Prime Minister Starmer gathered Home Secretary from around the world in London in March to discuss organised immigration crime, and this issue will therefore be central to the Berlin Process Summit that the UK will host on 22 October this year,” the British embassy said.
They also stated that “Europe needs security to develop and prosper”, and that it is “crucial to improve cooperation across the continent” in order to “prevent the insecurity caused by illegal migration.”

“The Western Balkans is a key region in this fight and our government is committed to working with all countries in the region bilaterally and multilaterally to take action against these criminals,” it said.
Finally, they also referred to statements by politicians from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in particular from the RS entity, on this topic.
“We have seen various statements on this issue recently, as well as the initiative of the President of Republika Srpska. To be completely clear, the British Foreign Secretary during his visit in May definitely did not discuss sending migrants to Bosnia and Herzegovina, nor is anyone from the British Embassy in Sarajevo involved in talks with BiH on this issue,” the British Embassy explained.
Let us recall that this point also provoked a reaction from opposition politicians in the RS. Thus, the Vice President of the PDP and a representative in the RS National Assembly Igor Crnadak stated before this session that the initiative on migrants contains “two landmines.”
“First, Dodik’s proposal is to reject the arrival of migrants to Republika Srpska only from Great Britain and the European Union, which raises many doubts and cannot be acceptable. Secondly, the Information criticizes the opposition, and constantly talks about the common position of Republika Srpska on this issue. This is incorrect and the response at the session will be adequate,” Crnadak emphasized.
