Sarajevo’s Air Reaches Hazardous Levels, Posing Serious Health Risks

The air in Sarajevo is hazardous to health this morning, the “Zrak.eko-akcija” website announced.

The air quality index in Sarajevo is 367 and, as stated, can cause serious consequences for the entire population, who should avoid any exertion while outdoors.

The most vulnerable categories of the population – pregnant women, the elderly and children, people with respiratory and heart problems – should remain indoors.

The measurement at 7 a.m. showed that the air is very unhealthy in Visoko with a quality index of 233, Travnik 228, Hadžići 223 and Tuzla 206.

The air is unhealthy in Ilijaš with an index of 195, Kakanj 192, Zenica 184, Kalesija 166, Maglaj 165, Banja Luka 156, Doboj 155 and Lukavac 154.

The air is unhealthy for sensitive groups in Živinice with an index of 132, Brod 122 and Prijedor 111.

Air with a quality index of zero to 50 is good, from 51 to 100 moderately polluted, from 101 to 150 unhealthy for sensitive groups of the population, from 151 to 200 unhealthy, from 201 to 300 very unhealthy and more than 300 is dangerous to health.
