The Embassy of Canada in Hungary, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina announced the glorification of convicted war criminal Ratko Mladić, saying that honoring convicted war criminals is unacceptable.
- Canada unequivocally condemns efforts to celebrate those responsible for genocide and other crimes. We support the victims, survivors and their families – according to a statement from the Canadian Genocide Research Institute (IGK).
It is added that the Government of Canada strongly opposes any form of glorification, state or military honors for convicted war criminal Ratko Mladić on the occasion of his funeral in Belgrade in September 2026.
