Brigadier of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Admir Jusupović, received another prestigious US military award.
The Meritorious Service Medal was presented to him on September 9th at the Embassy of the United States in Sarajevo, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance bilateral military cooperation and strategic partnership between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the US.
US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires to Bosnia and Herzegovina John Ginkel presented him with the award for his service from 2021 to 2024.
At one time, Jusupović served as the Liaison Officer of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Maryland National Guard, while simultaneously holding the position of Deputy Military Attaché of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the US.
The Meritorious Service Medal is one of the most significant US military awards presented for exceptional service in non-combat operations. This is for members who significantly contributed to improving operational efficiency and meeting strategic goals.
During his assignment in the US, Brigadier Jusupović was also awarded the Maryland Meritorious Service Medal. Maryland and Bosnia and Herzegovina have a long-standing bilateral cooperation as part of the State Partnership Program – SPP.
The Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina stated that awarding these two decorations testifies to the significance of Jusupović’s engagement during his military-diplomatic mission in the US.
As stated, he was one of the key participants in enhancing joint military training programs and in establishing civil cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Maryland.
Brigadier General Jusupović currently serves as an inspector in the General Inspectorate of the Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Throughout his career, he has also been awarded the US Armed Forces Commendation Medal for his participation in Operation “Iraqi Freedom” in Iraq in 2008, the NATO Medal for the ISAF mission in Afghanistan in 2010, and the Florida National Guard Commendation Medal in 2021.
