Great Expectations from the tourist Season in Bihac and Una National Park

Representatives of the Tourist Board of the City of Bihacrecently presented a calendar of summer events, with which they are trying to further strengthen and expand the tourist offer of this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). During the period of three months, numerous cultural, musical, entertainment and sports events are planned, some of which will be financially and marketing-wise assisted by the City Tourist Board from the funds collected by paying sojourn taxes.

”The city of Bihac has finally solved the system of paying sojourn taxes and it has already given certain results in less than a year of existence. Of course, it has not yet been accepted by all hoteliers and especially people who rent accommodation, but we are trying to establish communication and explain its importance through a partnership.

Through the funds raised so far through this system, we are able to help financially or in marketing way to maintain and develop several important cultural, musical and sporting events. This summer these are the events: Moto meeting ‘Stara karabaja’, music festivals ‘Imperium’ and ‘Bihac urlice’, Mountain-cycling race ‘Grand prix Bihac‘ and Film festival ‘Avant i Una’ (‘Avant and Una’). There are several more events, and we hope that next year we will be able to expand that list,” noted the director of the Tourist Board of the City of Bihac Armin Amidzic.

He added that thanks to the online system of registration of sojourn taxes, he can finally talk about certain statistical data and parameters.

The reason for this year’s optimism in the northwest of BiH are the top results achieved in the Una National Park, where the record year 2019 could very easily be surpassed.

”In 2019, Una National Park was visited by more than 120.000 guests and tourists. The parameters confirm that in the first five months of this year we exceeded the figures from the same period in 2019 by as much as twenty percent, which is why we think that our optimism is justified. We have made a huge organizational and infrastructural shift, and we are working tirelessly to promote and enrich the offer.”, Avaz writes.
