photoTesnim Karišik, 17-year-old photographer from Sarajevo, won at the National Geographic’s contest, and her winning photo, named “Yin Yang,” received the title of the editor’s favorite.

Tesnim is attending 4th grade of Fifth Gymnasium in Sarajevo. She is engaged in the photography for a long time, but she is working intensively for the last year and a half.

“Recently, I made a profile on Yourshot NatGeo and posted some of my photos. Comments on them were very surprising. Many of them asked me to post more of my photos.”

One of them is the “Yin Yang”, which was the editor’s favorites, and yesterday, among the 12 best photos from all around the world, received most of the votes and won on the contest. I was so happy that I had the honor to present B&H in the best light,” said Tesnim.

Her photos were published by Vogue as well, and she already received several awards. She won first places in numerous competitions, told us this young photographer who volunteers at 8 organizations.

“Yin Yang” is the photo that requested a lot of work and effort.

“Starting with the models, to clothing, light, location, and the idea itself… it requested a lot of work. The photo is part of the project that I’m working on. I took the photo from the bridge, on my toes, in order to get a good shot and a good composition. I took a risk, but it was worth it,” explained Tesnim.

She thanked Hana Zebo, who helped her in the realization, and to all of those who voted for her.
