Great Results in BiH Tourism this Year

tourism2In the period from January to October 2016, 1.008.815 tourists visited BiH, which is 11.4 percent more than in the same period last year, and they made 2.106.091 overnight stays, which is 10.5 percent more than last year.

The number of overnight stays of domestic tourists increased by 1.6 percent, while the number of overnight stays of foreign tourists increased by 14.7 percent in comparison with the same period in 2015.

In the structure of overnight stays, the share of domestic tourists was 29.5 percent, while the share of foreign tourists was 70.5 percent.

Tourists who made the most overnight stays in the first ten months of 2016 come from Croatia (10.6 percent), Turkey (8.4 percent), Serbia (8.0 percent), Italy (6.6 percent), Slovenia (5.7 percent), Poland (4.5 percent) and Germany (4.0 percent), which is 47.8 percent in total. Tourists from other countries made 52.2 percent of overnight stays.

When it comes to the length of stay of foreign tourists in BiH, on the first place are tourists from Malta with average stay of 5.6 nights, then tourists from South Africa with 3.9 nights, Ireland with 3.6 nights, Lithuania with 3.5 nights, and Kuwait with 3.4 nights.

According to the type of accommodation facilities, 92.4 percent of overnight stays were made in the category hotels and similar accommodation.
