Damir Dzumhur (23) managed to make a surprise and celebrate in a fantastic match against the great Rafael Nadal (29), after the Spaniard retired in the third set of the match. The result was 1: 1 in sets (6: 2, 4: 6), while our tennis player was leading with 3: 0 in the third set.
Spanish tennis player easily won the first game after his serve, and then Dzumhur returned with successful service that lasted for more than 10 minutes, in which our tennis player saved nine break points.
In his fourth service, Dzumhur had 40:30 and a chance to decrease the score that he did not manage to do and Nadal won the first set with the score 6: 2 after 44 minutes of play.
Nadal took the lead with 1: 0 after his service in the second set. Then Dzumhur had a successful service with a successful “challange”. Then came the period of fantastic game of our player. Dzumhur made break and then won his service, not letting Nadal to win a single point. It was 3: 1 for Dzumhur.
Great game of Dzumhur woke up Nadal who did not allow a single point to our tennis player in his service and he reduced lead to 4: 3, after which Nadal continued in the same rhythm and took a break for 4: 4.
It is interesting that Dzumhur requested “challange” twice during his service and both times he was right.
Nadal had a service and Dzumhur returned balls to famous tennis player with his impressive game, winning points and made new break which was preceded by another successful “challange”. Our tennis player had a score 5: 4 and service to equalize sets. He won the service without problems for impressive 1: 1.
It was obvious that Nadal has health problems which our tennis player used to get 2: 0 in only 13 minutes in the third set.
Dzumhur continued in the same rhythm and made a new break for 3: 0, but it must be admitted that the Spanish tennis player looked devastated in those moments. During the break, doctor approached him and advised him to retire if he feels bad, but Nadal refused. He returned to the field, however he handed over the match shortly after.
