Mostar Airport ended 2025 with more than 72 thousand passengers, Mostar Airport Director Marko Đuzel told Feni, assessing that this is a large increase compared to the previous year, when around 48 thousand passengers were recorded.
“As for the number of passengers, we are satisfied. This is in line with our realistic plans and business plans. So this is the second best year since the establishment of Mostar Airport,” Đuzel pointed out.
He adds that this year will be a year of stabilization for Mostar Airport.
“We will look at the lines we have had so far and see which are profitable and which are not. We will keep eight lines that have shown real results, while those that are not profitable will be closed. These eight lines that remain are all “good” in some way. Naples and Munich, which were not adequate, we will not continue this year,” Đuzel said.
He says that Stuttgart and Düsseldorf are certainly the best lines, with aircraft occupancy rates of more than 90 percent. Belgrade is next, with its own continuous occupancy.
“Palermo is surprisingly good. We can be satisfied with all routes. Zagreb has reached about 55 percent of aircraft occupancy. Bari is fair. Rome and Bergamo are still “struggling” a bit, but we expect them to reach normal numbers this year,” said Đuzel.
The goal, according to him, is to maintain the current number of passengers this year and work on the infrastructure so that in 2027 we can start expanding routes and increasing the number of passengers.
“This year we will focus on three major projects. The first is the construction of a solar power plant to reduce electricity costs. The second, also the largest project, is the expansion of the terminal building by 900 square meters, which we plan to complete this year. The third project is the reconstruction of the lighting, which has become old and is causing maintenance problems, so that is also something we will complete this year,” Đuzel points out.
Eurowings has announced a reduction in the number of flights to the region for the summer of 2026, but this, as Đuzel emphasized, will not affect Mostar.
“Eurowings has even increased the number of flights slightly. As far as Mostar is concerned, we have an increase, specifically on the route to Stuttgart, which starts earlier than last year. We are satisfied and are not affected by this cut because the route is more than good, with an occupancy rate of about 90 percent in aircraft with 150 to 180 seats,” emphasizes Đuzel.
He adds that the winter period has ended with a few flights to Stuttgart around Christmas and New Year, while Zagreb and Belgrade remain year-round routes.
“The real season for Stuttgart, Düsseldorf and other destinations begins on May 1,” concluded Đuzel.
