United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said that countries should work to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Addressing the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on the third anniversary of the start of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, he called for the establishment of a “just and lasting peace”.
“We must spare no effort to end this conflict and achieve a just and lasting peace, in accordance with the UN Charter, international law and the resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly,” Guterres said.
The UN General Assembly and the UN Security Council will vote today on a US-drafted resolution calling for an end to the war in Ukraine. Ukraine and its European allies have prepared their own draft resolution, which the US did not support or participate in drafting.
