The Palestinian Hamas movement announced that indirect talks with Israel on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip have resumed in the Qatari capital Doha.
“Indirect talks have resumed in Doha. This round of talks will focus on an agreement that leads to a complete ceasefire, the withdrawal of occupation forces from Gaza and the return of displaced people to their homes,” the statement said.
Hamas said it was approaching the talks seriously and with a positive attitude in order to reach an agreement as soon as possible in accordance with the wishes of the Palestinian people.
The statement said that the goal of the talks is to stop Israel’s ethnic cleansing and genocidal war in Gaza.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office previously announced that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had approved the negotiating delegation to travel to Doha for the talks, AA writes.
