Hamas confirmed on Thursday that it had responded to Israel’s proposal for a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza, after more than two weeks of indirect talks in Qatar failed to yield any progress.

“Hamas has just submitted its response and that of the Palestinian factions to the ceasefire proposal to the mediators,” the Palestinian group said in a post on Telegram.

The response includes proposed changes to aid clauses, maps of areas from which the Israeli military should withdraw and guarantees to ensure a lasting end to the war, a Palestinian source familiar with the talks in Doha said.

Negotiators from both sides are holding indirect talks in Doha with the mediators in an attempt to reach a ceasefire agreement that would include the release of Israeli hostages, AFP reported.
