Co-owner and CEO of Nova Željezara Zenica Ahmed Hamzić, on behalf of the company’s management, appealed to the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina to introduce temporary protective measures on the import of steel and steel products into BiH, which, he states, will preserve our industry, railways, more than 500 related companies, and directly and indirectly more than 11,000 jobs.
“We are facing decisions that may have far-reaching consequences for the entire economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Over the past five months, the Management of Nova Željezara Zenica has done everything in its power to preserve production and workers, despite the extremely difficult situation we found ourselves in. We have secured raw materials, improved processes and at no time have we made decisions to the detriment of workers. We must not allow production processes – the backbone of this country – to be destroyed and the entire economy to be reduced exclusively to trade,” said Hamzić in his address to the BiH public, the steelworks announced.
Hamzić notes that this is not a message from an individual, but from all those who work, create and fight every day for the survival of the economic system, for their jobs, their families and the future of the country.
“Give us a chance. We are sure that we will succeed. Please support the protection of domestic steel production and enable the sustainability of the BiH economic system and the preservation of 11,000 jobs,” said Hamzić.
