Last year, BiH exported milk and dairy products worth around 146.13 million BAM, which represents a slight increase of 0.16 percent compared to the previous year, while the value of imports decreased by 4.94 percent and amounted to 254.65 million BAM.
As stated in the analysis of the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH, last year’s quantitative exports decreased by 5.59 percent compared to 2024, while the coverage of imports by exports last year amounted to 57 percent.
The structure of exports recorded growth, both in terms of quantity and value, in key categories – fermented products increased by 11.42 percent, butter and dairy spreads by 50 percent, and cheese and cottage cheese by 21 percent.
The largest export markets remained the same and include Montenegro, Croatia, North Macedonia and Serbia.
The most important import markets in 2025 were Germany, Croatia, Serbia, Hungary and Slovenia.
While imports from Germany, Hungary, Croatia and Slovenia have decreased, the Chamber states that imports from Serbia have increased compared to the previous year.
Last year, the most imported cheese and curd, milk and cream, butter and other fats and oils obtained from milk were imported into Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Despite the economic disturbances on the market, the export of the milk processing sector remained stable, and the drop in quantitative exports of 5.59 percent refers mainly to milk, while all other products of the dairy industry recorded growth, both in terms of quantity and value,” the analysis stated.
