On the 28th and 29th of May, Sarajevo will host a regional summit of heads of regional countries which is held every year in the framework of cooperation through the process of Brdo-Brijuni. With this initiative, participants have the ambition to strengthen the political dialogue in the region and the European Union, using the support and help of the official Zagreb and Ljubljana as members of the EU.
Presidents of Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro and Italy confirmed their arrival in written form. Summit of heads of countries will be also attended by the President of the Croatia, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic and the President of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, who are the initiators of the meeting, although they have not confirmed their arrival in written form yet.
On this occasion, presidents of Serbia and Kosovo, were also invited in Sarajevo, and they also have not confirmed their arrival yet.
Process Brdo-Brijuni was initiated by Slovenia and Croatia in 2013, in order for situation in Southeastern Europe to be further stabilized with regional cooperation and by resolving opened issues.
This initiative predicts gathering of heads of states of South East Europe with guest of honor from one of the leading countries of the EU, which becomes a participant in the dialogue itself.
The first summit meeting was held in July 2013 in Brdo near Kranj, where the guest of honor was the President of France, Francois Hollande. A year later, a meeting was held in Dubrovnik, and guest of honor was German Chancellor, Angela Merkel. The third meeting was held in June 2015 in the Montenegrin resort of Budva, while the fourth was held at the end of November in Zagreb. Guests of honor at Zagreb Summit was the Vice President of USA, Joe Biden, the President of European Council, Donald Tusk, and the President of Austria, Heinz Fischer.
Also, on the 27th and 28th of May, will be held Summit of 100 Business Leaders of Southeast Europe in the organization of BBI Bank and ASA Prevent Group, under the slogan “Agreement for New Age”. This Summit will gather the most important business figures from Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, BiH, Montenegro, Macedonia, Kosovo and Albania.
Sponsor of the Summit100 is the Presidency of BiH and its maintenance is planned parallel with the regional summit of heads of countries. The leaders of the Brdo Brijuni process will attend Summit100 within the presidential panel.
After Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro and Serbia, BiH will host the leading business event in the region for the first time.
