The Union of Healthcare Workers in the Canton of Sarajevo will organize a general strike, which will begin on September 2ndat 7:30 am until reaching an agreement with the Government of Canton Sarajevo.

The union is seeking to sign the Collective Agreement, which expired on November 7thlast year and trade unions also say that health care is in a difficult situation and that staffing shortages are also a big problem.

Since they have been waiting for a better situation since February, they have nothing left to do but to strike.

This is not the first time that health workers in Sarajevo Canton have are on strike. The multi-day strike took place last year and ended after an agreement was reached with the government.

The protests also took place in the first half of May, when they demanded greater trade union representation at the level of the Federation of BiH, Klix.ba news portal reports.
