Healthcare workers in Sarajevo Canton, who are seeking an increase in the hourly wage from 3.74 BAM to 5 BAM, have rejected the proposal from the relevant ministry and the Canton Government to raise their hourly wage by nine fening and have announced protests.

Representatives of the Trade Union of Healthcare Workers of Sarajevo Canton expressed disappointment with today’s meeting with the negotiating team of the Sarajevo Canton Government, as they were offered only a 3 percent increase in the hourly wage.

Senad Sadiković, President of the Trade Union of Healthcare Workers of Sarajevo Canton, stated that healthcare workers are ready to do whatever it takes to have their demands met.

“The Government is offering a salary increase of 40 BAM for nurses and 80 BAM for doctors, which is more than shameful. Healthcare workers will not allow the Government to do to them what it did to other public sector employees. We call on them totake this seriously,” Sadiković said.
