The Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zukan Helez, today received the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to BiH, Jaroslaw Lindenberg, and the newly appointed non-resident military attaché of the Republic of Poland, the captain of the battleship Zbigniew Romanowski.
Minister Helez expressed his satisfaction with the visit and informed the guests about the priority activities of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of BiH and the strategic goals of our country, joining the Euro-Atlantic integration.
He emphasized the importance of financial support from European partners in strengthening the field of military demining and the importance of support from NATO members through the Assistance Package in the construction of defense and security capacities.
“Poland is an important factor in Europe, it participates in the ALTHEA mission in BiH and provided financial support to the Peace Support Operations Center (PSOTC) from 2004 to 2010, for which I am extremely grateful. Unfortunately, our two countries do not have a signed cooperation plan in the field of defense, so I would like that cooperation to be established, as well as the mutual appointment of resident military representatives,” emphasized Minister Helez.
In this context, the Polish ambassador and military attache also confirmed the need for the soon signing of a cooperation plan in the field of defense, as well as the possibility of intensifying cooperation in other areas as well.
Ambassador Lindenberg pointed out that the Republic of Poland supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as stability and peace in the Western Balkans. He also emphasized Poland’s commitment to support BiH on its Euro-Atlantic path.
In the end, Minister Helez expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Lindenberg for his words of support, with the expectation that the Republic of Poland will increase the number of its soldiers in the ALTHEA mission in BiH, it was announced from the Public Relations Office of the MoBiH.
