From actresses to artists, from athletes to activists, TIME on Thursday announced its 13 Women of the Year.
Each recipient, the magazine states, “in their own way, works toward creating a better, fairer world.”
This year’s Women of the Year are actress and producer Nicole Kidman, WNBA star A’ja Wilson, Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles, artist Laufey, actress Anna Sawai, reproductive rights activist Amanda Zurawski, Feeding America CEO Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, women’s rights activist Fatou Baldeh, actress and breast cancer awareness advocate Olivia Munn, Bobbie co-founder and CEO Laura Modi, conservationist Purnima Devi Barman, and Gisele Pelicot, a voice for survivors of sexual violence, a fighter, and a heroine who turned the world upside down with her testimony.
The honorary issue will include three magazine covers featuring Kidman, Wilson, and Chiles.
“Thank you so much, @time, for this incredible honor,” Kidman posted on her Instagram story alongside a photo of her magazine cover.
Wilson won her third WNBA MVP award and also helped lead the United States (U.S.) women’s basketball team to its eighth consecutive Olympic gold medal. The 28-year-old also published the bestselling book Dear Black Girls and became the first Black WNBA player since 2010 to have a signature shoe.
“Blessings on the highest level,” Wilson wrote on Instagram about her TIME honor.
One of the most significant honorees is Gisele Pelicot, who led a movement for survivors of sexual violence after she waived her legal right to anonymity in the midst of a horrific rape case, in which her husband was convicted of drugging her and inviting more than 70 men to have sex with her without her knowledge.
Another honoree is Amanda Zurawski, who experienced pregnancy complications that required an abortion. Living in Texas, a state where nearly all abortions are banned, she was unable to receive treatment until her reproductive organs were permanently compromised. Zurawski sued the state of Texas in 2023 and continues to fight for reproductive rights.
Olivia Munn, an actress diagnosed with breast cancer, raised awareness by encouraging women to seek additional screenings even after mammograms, as she did.
“I’m speechless,” Munn wrote. “Thank you, @time, for this incredible honor as one of TIME’s Women of the Year 2025.”
