The High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security, Kaja Kallas, stated that the next package of sanctions against Russia should be ready by next month.
“The EU will continue to target Russia’s war economy. The next package of sanctions against Moscow should be ready by next month,” Kallas announced on the network “X.”
She stated that “the unity among EU leaders at yesterday’s virtual summit was palpable” and that “everyone is committed to a lasting peace that protects the vital security interests of both Ukraine and Europe.”
Kallas wrote that the Russian President Vladimir Putin “cannot be trusted to fulfill any promise or obligation” and that therefore “security guarantees must be strong enough and credible enough to deter Russia from regrouping and launching another attack.”
“The EU will contribute to these security guarantees, especially by training Ukrainian soldiers and strengthening Ukraine’s armed forces and defense industry,” Kallas specified.
