At the headquarters of JP Highways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Mostar, the contract on the construction of a part of the expressway Mostar – Polog – Široki Brijeg – the border of the Republic of Croatia, one of the most important infrastructure projects in Herzegovina, was solemnly signed today.

The contract refers to the section Polog – the border of the Republic of Croatia, specifically to the sections Polugrno – Podledinac and Podledinac – Grude Istok. The contract was signed by Denis Lasić, director of JP Autocesta FBiH, on behalf of the investor, while Ladislav Bevanda, director of Hering d.d., signed the contract on behalf of the contractor. Široki Brijeg, in a consortium with KTM Brina d.o.o. Posusje.

The signing ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Transport and Communications of the Federation of BiH Andrijana Katić, who pointed out that it is a “capital project that will permanently change the traffic image of Western Herzegovina and connect Mostar with Croatia’s modern expressway”.

The value of the contract for the section Polugrno – Podledinac is 46.8 million BAM, and for the section Podledinac – Grude Istok 59.6 million BAM, excluding VAT. The funds are provided from the budget of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina through the item of capital transfers to public companies – transfer for the construction of highways and expressways.

The Polugrno – Podledinac section, 5.48 kilometers long, includes the Polugrno loop with toll booths and a connecting road, three underpasses, one overpass and the Zvirnjače viaduct. The section Podledinac – Grude Istok, 6.36 kilometers long, includes two interchanges with toll booths, two connecting roads, two overpasses, one underpass and the Krštelica viaduct.

The deadline for the completion of works on both sections is 30 months. The total value of the project is almost one billion convertible marks, and the total length of the road will be about 60 kilometers.

The expressway through Herzegovina will connect Mostar with the Croatian border at Imotski, creating a direct connection to the Makarska Riviera, BHRT writes.
