Decrease in Number of Building Permits issued in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The number of building permits issued in September 2019, compared to the average number of building permits issued in 2018, decreased by 4.7% and compared to September 2018, decreased by 12.4%.

The number of dwellings planned for construction in September 2019, compared to the average number of dwellings planned for construction in 2018, decreased by 20.3% and compared to September of 2018, decreased by 39.3%, according to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH’s) Agency for Statistics.

For comparison, the number of building permits issued in July of 2019, compared to the average number of building permits issued in 2018, decreased by 9.6% and compared to the July of 2018, decreased by 16.8%.

The number of dwellings planned for construction in July of 2019, compared to the average number of dwellings planned for construction in 2018, decreased by 10.3% and compared to the July of 2018, decreased by 27.5%.

The total Producer Price Index in Construction/ residential buildings in Bosnia and Herzegovina in second quarter of 2019, as compared to first quarter 2019, increased by 0.5 percent.

By types of construction works, in the same period, index of producer prices for Arhitecture and construction works increased by 0.5 percent, and Electrical installations works increased by 0.6 percent.

Producer Prices Indicies for Plumbing and sewege, and for Heating installations works remained unchanged, BiH Agency for Statistics reports.

However, the value of contracted construction works of companies from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina abroad for the first six months of this year increased by 6.1 percent compared to the same period in 2018, while the value of completed construction works in this period increased by 3.3 percent.

Out of the total value of works performed abroad in the first half of 2019, the largest part relates to the countries of Europe, accounting for 97.8 percent.

The share of high-rise buildings in total construction works is 39.6 percent, and the share of low-rise buildings is 60.4 percent, according to data from the Federal Bureau of Statistics.
