Israel attacked Lebanon today with fighter jets, which was a response to a rocket attack by the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.
Several locations in southern Lebanon were targeted by Israeli warplanes. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) posted several videos of the attacks on the X social network, showing that they targeted buildings and rural areas.
As they announced, the terrorist squad, launch site, military building and terrorist infrastructure were targeted. They indicated that they hit Hezbollah positions in Aita al-Sha’ab, Yaron and Ramya.
The Israeli attack with fighter jets was preceded by a Hezbollah rocket attack on northern areas of Israel, further inflaming the Middle East conflict. The Lebanese group claims to have launched 62 rockets at an Israeli aerial observation base located on Mount Meron, which they said they were able to hit.
On the other hand, the Israeli army claims that 40 rockets were fired in the area of the mentioned mountain, but they did not mention that the base was hit.
Hezbollah said the rocket attack was an “initial response” to the killing of senior Palestinian militant group Hamas official Saleh al-Arouri earlier this week near Beirut. It is suspected that this killing was carried out by Israel.
Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah announced revenge for the killing of al-Arouri. He stated that the absence of a Lebanese reaction would make the country vulnerable to an Israeli attack.
As reported by Euronews, the impression is that Nasrallah expected the reaction of the entire Lebanese public, regardless of the risk of the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel escalating completely.
At the time, he did not talk about how Hezbollah would react, Klix.ba writes.
