The incomplete remains of a victim of the past war were exhumed today in the yard of Nebojsa Mraović’s family home in Brčko District.

According to the information available to the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is assumed that the victim is of Bosniak nationality, most likely from the area of Srebrenica.

“According to that information, the remains of the victim were brought to Brčko immediately after the war, and in 2012 they were buried and hidden under a fountain in a private yard, most likely by the owner of the plot,” the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina stated.

Due to this case, an investigation was opened by the competent prosecutor’s office.

The remains will be transferred to the Tuzla Commemorative Center for further forensic – medical and criminal – technical examination, as well as the extraction of bone samples with the aim of determining identity through the DNA method.

The exhumation was carried out under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and according to the order of the state court.
