The High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, met on Friday in Sarajevo with a high-level NATO delegation, headed by the Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, as well as with the Chief of NATO Staff in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On that occasion, Schmidt emphasized that the situation in the country is stable, but also called for caution.
“I held a very informative meeting with a high-level NATO delegation led by Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy Boris Ruge, who worked in the OHR for several years in the past, and the Commander of the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo, Brigadier General Matthew Valas and Chief Cells for political support and engagement at the NATO headquarters Vladimir Vucinić,” announced the high representative on platform X.
He emphasized the need for close cooperation of the international community in BiH in order to prevent the reversal of the achieved reforms and to strengthen BiH’s Euro-Atlantic path.
“The security situation in BiH is still stable, but vigilance is necessary in order to respond to continuous challenges to the functionality and authority of state institutions, as well as to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The number one priority for the international community in the region of the Western Balkans is the preservation of stability and a peaceful environment that favors reforms and integration into the EU,” emphasized High Representative Christian Schmidt, according to the statement.
