On the occasion of the death and today’s commemoration of Hans Koschnik in Bremen, last night was organized special program at the Old Bridge in Mostar, in the organization of “Centre for Peace” from Mostar.
Old Bridge was lightened with the colors of the flags of Germany and Mostar divers performed honorary jump and lit torches in memory of the eminent German diplomat and the first European Manager of Mostar who arrived in this city back in 1994 at a time when the war still lasted.
“Hans Koschnick was loved and appreciated by most of the citizens. He will stay in memory of great number of people from Mostar as a man of honor who wanted and worked to reconcile and join connections broken by the war and build bridges between people with his whole heart. He was working with everyone for the benefit of all city. Even when, on two occasions, he survived an assassination by militant nationalists in this city, Hans Koschnick remained upright and consistent with objectives of his mission to unify Mostar and reconcile its people,” as announced from the Centre for Peace.
At the official last farewell ceremony of Hans Koschnick that will be held in the German city of Bremen – in the name of “the Center for Peace and Multiethnic Cooperation Mostar,” on behalf of many people from Mostar who keep Hans Koschnick in the heart – German – Bosnian businessman Sergio Sotric will attend and speak at the invitation of the Mayor / President of the Senate of Bremen.
On the 23rd of July this year, Koschnik will be posthumously awarded with the prestigious international prize awarded by the “Center for Peace” – “Mostar Peace Connection”, which was also awarded to Nelson Mandela, Vaclav Havel, Alois Mock, Mohamed ElBaradei and Irina Bokova.
