High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina Christian Schmidt commented on the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina for HRT at the congress of the European People’s Party held in Valencia, Spain.
“We should not pay attention to anyone’s threats, but look to the future. Bosnia and Herzegovina has been presented with a good opportunity. If a new coalition with the aim of getting closer to Europe can be formed, negotiations on BiH’s entry into the European Union can begin,” said Schmidt.
He believes that it will be a long-term process, but that the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina should be made aware that they are part of Europe and that their future awaits them there.
“We are grateful to the chairwoman of the Council of Ministers, Borjana Krišto, for her work and we hope that the representatives of all three nations, Serbs, Bosniaks and Croats, will remain united. We still have a lot of work to do because during the meeting with the leaders of the EU member states, it became clear that they are determined to provide support, to a greater or lesser extent, but also to show where the borders are. The actions of some from Banja Luka are absolutely unacceptable,” Schmidt told HRT.
