On the sidelines of today’s “Doha Forum 2024”, the Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sevlid Hurtić, and the Minister of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar, Lolwah Al Khater, renewed discussions on important topics.

A special focus was on the project to build and equip a preschool institution for the returnee population in the RS called “Friendship Park”, which aims to support returnee children through quality preschool education and development.

Taking into account the results of the PISA testing for primary education in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the project to informatize schools called “Digital Learning” was also discussed.

The project would significantly contribute to the improvement of the primary education system, and by introducing modern IT equipment and technologies into classrooms, it would enable teachers to apply interactive and innovative teaching methods. Students would also be given the opportunity to develop digital competencies that are necessary for success in the 21st century.

One of the topics of the meeting was the recognition of the Bosnian language as part of extracurricular activities in private and public schools in Qatar.

The discussion focused on a model according to which the Bosnian language, in cooperation with teachers from the Bosnian Supplementary School, could be included in the school curriculum as a graded subject. This would enable the preservation of the linguistic and cultural identity of children from Bosnia and Herzegovina who attend schools in Qatar, the BiH Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees announced.
