The coaches of most successful taekwondo collective in B&H, Novi Grad Sarajevo, Haris Husić and Belmir Berberović, are the participants of the World’s Masters Games which will be held in Turin from 1 to 11.
World Masters Games is an event similar to the Olympics, but only for athletes who are 35 year old and more. It is organized every four years and currently are registered about 10.000 athletes from all around the world who will compete in 30 sports. Of course, one of the sports is Olympic taekwondo, and our representatives who will depart on 6th august will try to win the medals.
Berberović will compete in the category of up to 80 kg, and Haris Husić in the category over 80 kg. According to the schedule of the competition, two of our competitors have scheduled weigh measurement on 8th August and a day later is planned the performance in the elimination fights.
“We can say that we’re going there relaxed, without any pressure. We do not know who could be our opponents, but we think that the competition will be very strong. The competitors of age 35 and over are not at all easy, and some of them are still actively competing and they perform at world and continental championships and even at the Olympics. Unfortunately, during the preparation I received a meniscus injury, so for a shorter period, I have been resting and going to therapies, and I hope to participate in the Games without injury. My colleague Belmir is regularly training, ten times a week and is very well prepared and you could say that he in in a very good shape. Hopefully we will have good results and that our efforts will eventually be awarded with medals. Of course the preparations and departure are funded from our personal arrangements and no any government institution have not support us“, said Haris Husić, member of the team to go to WMG and coach of taekwondo club Novi Grad Sarajevo.
